"Happy Chinese, Happy Easter" Chinese Corner Successfully Held

In order to improve foreign students’ Chinese and Chinese students’ oral English; to promote the communication between foreign and Chinese students; to create a home atmosphere for them and to celebrate the Easter festival for them, international department of School of Administration and Overseas Education College held “happy Chinese, happy Easter” Chinese corner on April 12 at Corner Cafe. Many Chinese and foreign students participated in the activity.

At first, the host gave a brief introduction of the activity flow and asked students to have a simple understanding of each other. Then, we played a game called＂Guessing song by part of the song＂, in which the students needed to guess the song and the singer sang only a part of a song. Everyone was so active because all those songs were popular and most students got nice egg box as present. After that, some foreign students told us some local Easter customs so that everyone could know something about Easter. And we started a game---paint eggs. Everybody was so excited upon seeing eggs, quickly they used painters to paint eggs. We could tell they seemed to feel at home and have a great time with their friends and family through by watching their impression and happy smile. Beautiful eggs came out after a few minutes, students were so proud of their works and couldn't wait to show them. At last, everyone had a deep communication with each other. They exchanged their contact information and took photos as memory. They got happiness from different countries’friends, maybe a couple of years later they would find it was this activity that linked them with each other.

This was a happy and warm afternoon. The activity made people’s relationship closer and provided Chinese and foreign students with a platform of communication to understand each other, at the same time made students feel the atmosphere of home in an alien land. Cultural exchange not only broadened everyone’s horizons but also contributed to the development of internationalized campus.
